My Dad has given me lots of tips about making and cooking homemade beef burgers so I thought I would hand a couple down to you:
-Cook the onions separately before adding them to the beef mince because the onions will then taste a lot sweeter when they are cooked. We also cook onions separately due to onions not developing all their flavour until their cells are cut into; sliced; chopped; damaged; or cooked.
-Add extra salt and pepper on both sides of the burgers right before cooking to allow the burgers to become springy once cooked and have more flavour.
-Only flip the burger once. If you constantly turn the burger then you will toughen and start to dry out the beef and if you flip too soon, the burger can stick.
Beef is probably one of my favourite meats to eat, especially homemade burgers. From a very young age I helped my Dad in the kitchen making burgers for our family and guests and I would always learn more about how burgers are made. When I started off making burgers and cooking them on the BBQ (under parental supervision of course) I would always wear safety goggles to keep myself from crying due to the onions and to keep the smoke out of my eyes.
