A Very Hearty Marbleised Vanilla Cake

This heart shaped vanilla cake makes this cake extra special for a special someone on a special day.

Easy Recipe

Makes 12



Ingredients:

210g sieved self-raising;

2tsp sieved baking powder;

4 medium/large eggs;

210g softened, unsalted butter;

210g caster sugar;

4 tsp vanilla extract;

2tbsp milk;

1tsp pink food colouring;

1tsp blue food colouring;

175g icing sugar;

35ml cold water



Recipe:

1. Preheat the oven to 170°C Fan/190°C/375°F/gas mark 5 and line a heart shaped cake tin.


2. In a mixing bowl, mix together; 210g sieved self-raising flour; 2tsp sieved baking powder; 210g caster sugar; and 210g softened unsalted butter until crumbly. Then beat in: 4 medium/large eggs; 4tsp vanilla extract; and 2tbsp milk.


3. Split the mixture into 2 separate bowls and in one bowl, mix in 1tsp pink food colouring and in the other bowl, mix in 1tsp blue food colouring.


4. Pour the blue cake mixture into the heart cake tin and afterwards pour the pink cake mixture over the top.


5. Using a stick, stir the colours around the cake tin and place in the oven at 170°C Fan/190°C/375°F/gas mark 5 for 40 minutes or until a knife comes out clean.


6. Take the cake out the oven and leave to cool in the tin for 10 minutes then turn onto a wire rack to completely cool.


7. Once fully cool, mix together 175g of sieved icing sugar and 35ml of cold water. Then pour the icing onto the top of the cake and let drizzle down the sides of the cake. Leave to fully set and enjoy.
